Welcome to Macchiato SHONAN!

I am a proud and energetic mother of three boys (ages 17, 12, and 7). All three of them are neurodiverse, so as you can imagine, life at home is beautifully chaotic! While I’m a "Chaki-chaki" person (a Japanese term for someone fast-paced and proactive), my boys move at their own unique rhythm. It’s a constant lesson in patience and love, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

My journey as a host began with my experience living in the suburbs of London for five years. Navigating a different culture while raising young children was challenging, but I was saved by the incredible kindness of friends I met from all over the world.

In Japan, we have a beautiful concept called "On-okuri" (Pay It Forward). It means passing on the kindness you received to someone else. I decided to become a host to give back the warmth I was shown in London to travelers visiting Japan.

At Macchiato SHONAN, I welcome guests with a "Mom’s heart." Whether you are a digital nomad seeking a peaceful workspace or a family looking for a home away from home, I want you to truly fall in love with Japan.

I opened this first location in Hiratsuka in the summer of 2025. I am so excited to meet diverse people from all walks of life. I look forward to welcoming you soon! ♪
