Our 60 m2 apartment is yours alone: a separate bedroom with a double bed, a living room with a sofa bed for two, and a balcony looking towards the Albanian Alps. The pedestrian centre of Shkoder is a walk away, so you can cook at home one evening and eat out the next.
Living and sleeping
Four people sleep comfortably here. There is a double bed in the bedroom and a proper mattress on the living room sofa bed. Each room has its own air conditioning with separate controls, so everyone can set their own temperature, and there is heating for the cooler months. Bed linen and towels are provided. A washing machine and a drying rack on the balcony are what make a longer stay workable.
Cooking
The kitchen is set up for real cooking rather than reheating: induction hob, a small oven that both bakes and warms food, a fridge with a freezer, pots, pans, dishes and cutlery. There is no microwave. The dining table seats four.
Working from here
You are welcome to use the work corner: a monitor, mouse, keyboard and webcam, all connected over USB-C. Please bring your own USB-C power adapter, there is none in the apartment. Wi-Fi is in place. If your work depends on video calls, tell us before you book and we will check the connection is right for you.
Travelling with children
This is a flat where children are expected, not merely tolerated. The living room has a children's table with small chairs and a box of toys. In the bedroom and the wardrobe you will find a travel cot with bedding, a floor mat, a stroller for afternoon naps and three child car seats. There is a potty and a child toilet seat in the bathroom, plus children's helmets and two children's bikes, roughly for ages 2+ and 5+, kept on the balcony. Tell us how old your children are and we will confirm what will be ready for you.
Arriving and parking
The building has a lift and the apartment is on the fourth floor. There is free public street parking on the roads around the building. Spaces are not reserved and how busy it gets varies, so we cannot hold a particular spot for you, but there is no fee, no permit and nothing to arrange in advance.
The neighbourhood
You can walk into the centre for coffee, dinner or an evening stroll along the pedestrian streets. Rozafa Castle, above the meeting of three rivers, is a short trip. Lake Shkodra and its lakeside villages are close enough for a slow lunch by the water. Shkoder is the usual starting point for Theth and the Albanian Alps, and the sandy beaches near Velipoje are a drive away. We have known this city long enough to give you honest tips rather than a list copied from a guidebook.
House rules
No smoking indoors, the balcony is fine. No parties. Pets are welcome by prior agreement. The bathroom has a corner shower, not a bath.
A note on privacy
There is a small USB camera in the entrance utility area, above the washing machine. We live in the Czech Republic and use it to keep an eye on the apartment while it stands empty between guests. It points at the washing machine and the socket, not at the living space. You are welcome to unplug it for the whole of your stay, and we will show you exactly where it is when you arrive.
