A cosy and romantic, one-bedroom country cottage tucked into a quiet row of cottages in the beautiful Kent village of Bridge. Lovingly renovated, it's a characterful little home that's ideal for a longer countryside escape, a change of scenery while working remotely, or simply a peaceful place to read, write and slow down for a while.
With a log burner for colder evenings, a dedicated mezzanine workspace and library, a traditional roll-top bath and a garden overlooking open fields, it's a home to settle into rather than just somewhere to stay. There are lovely countryside walks right from the doorstep, and both The Pig Hotel and the Bridge Arms are within easy walking distance. Canterbury is nearby, with high-speed train connections to London from Canterbury West in around 55 minutes.
The ground floor has an open-plan sitting room and kitchen, with a small dining table and comfortable seating area. The kitchen's stable doors open onto a long garden, leading to a patio at the far end with lovely views across the sheep fields — a perfect spot for morning coffee.
Upstairs, there's a double bedroom and a generously sized bathroom with a traditional freestanding roll-top bath and a separate large shower. A rolling ladder leads up to the mezzanine, which houses a small library and desk area — a lovely tucked-away spot for writing, reading or working from home.
The cottage is small but practical, full of traditional details and thoughtfully renovated to create a comfortable home for a few weeks or months.
Bridge is a lovely village for anyone wanting a quieter base in the Kent countryside while remaining within easy reach of Canterbury and the surrounding villages. The village has a convenience store, café, hairdressers, pharmacy, restaurant and several pubs, all within walking distance.
Whether you're looking to work remotely, spend time on a creative project, take a break between house moves or simply enjoy a few months away from city life, the cottage makes a comfortable and characterful base.
Things to note
- Size and character: The cottage is small and cosy, with fairly low, beamed ceilings. Please bear this in mind if you're tall or looking for lots of space.
- Neighbours: The cottage is part of a small terrace, with neighbours either side, although it's generally very quiet and peaceful. My next door neighbour does my gardening.
- Right of way: There is a path directly behind the back door that neighbours occasionally use to take their bins around to the front. From time to time, someone may walk past the back window or door.
- Children:The cottage is not suitable for young children or babies, particularly because of the open stairs, mezzanine and rolling ladder.
- Dogs: One dog is very welcome per booking. The cottage is compact, so please consider whether the space will be comfortable for you and your dog over a longer stay.
- Parking: Free, unrestricted on-street parking is generally available outside the cottage or in the nearby close. There is also parking along the village high street.

Once you send a booking request, the host is notified that you are interested in their listing. From that moment, they have 24 hours to approve or reject your booking.
Hosts are mainly interested in the profile of their guest. Do not forget to fill in all necessary information, add your profile picture, or even make a short video about yourself. Doing that will make you more attractive for the owner and your booking will more likely get approved.
You can take a look at the contract in advance and online with every listing. After you sign it, you will find it in the application My Housing.
While arranging a contract on Flatio, you do not have to worry that it could be disadvantageous for you. Our contracts are made so that we avoid all problems! All of them are the same, used by all the hosts on Flatio.
Your time is precious. That's why we've added a virtual tour option to our platform so you can see some of the rentals listed on Flatio from the comfort of your own home.
If a virtual tour isn't available for the accommodation you've chosen, you can contact the host and ask them if they're willing to give you a personal tour of the rental unit.
In the event that you move in and the rented accommodation doesn't match the information on Flatio, let us know as soon as possible!
If the conditions for the withdrawal are met and the host can't fix the issue immediately, you have the option to withdraw from the lease agreement with a full refund. We'll also actively help you find an alternative accommodation and remain by your side until everything is fully resolved.

How you can cancel a booking varies depending on what stage the booking is in.
Is your booking request still waiting for host approval? Then you can simply cancel it directly from your My Housing web app!
However, suppose the owner has already approved your booking request, and you are no longer interested in it. In that case, you can still cancel the booking before you sign the lease agreement. Just consider that you should do this only in essential cases. Because when the host accepts your booking, the property is stopped being advertised, and they can lose the chance to rent their property to someone else.
Do you have an approved booking and also a valid agreement? In order to cancel your booking, contact Flatio customer support well in advance of your contract beginning (the specific time and amount of refund depends on the type of cancelation policy).
If you cancel your booking 30 days or more before the move-in date, you’ll get a refund of the entire first rent.
If you cancel your booking up to 14 days before the move-in date, you’ll get a refund of half of the first rent.
If you cancel your booking less than 13 days before the move-in date, you won’t get a refund of the first rent.
The service fee is always refundable.
If you send a message to Flatio's Support Team requesting cancelation of the booking ("termination from the start date") within 48 hours after the lease agreement becomes valid, you're entitled to get back all the money you paid for the service fee.
After 48 hours, you're entitled to a refund of the service fee in the form of a "voucher" equal to the amount of the service fee you paid. The voucher can be used for your next booking and is valid for 12 months. If the service fee for your next booking is lower than the voucher amount, we'll issue you a new voucher for the remaining amount, valid for 12 months.
